Yuki is an OC for the world of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's.

When the Zero Reverse happened, Yuki hadn't quite yet been born. Her father was a maintenance worker on old Moment, and her mother was there to visit him, though she was heavily pregnant at the time. Then Zero Reverse occurred- Those who were at ground zero, of course, died immediately. Those who were just a bit further out, though, didn't- Instead, they would have just ended up near the devastation of a sealed ion gas chamber of Moment rupturing, leaving the one surviving woman to breathe in what was essentially Moment gas.

This had about as many health complications as you'd expect from inhaling a magical future energy source.

Yuki was born, and her mother passed soon after, as her father had already. And Yuki herself was quite a complicated birth- The gas's effects had left her mute.

Left to an orphanage at the lowest rungs of Neo Domino City- Her parents weren't Satellite, but as people who worked there, they were barely better than it. Yuki felt stifled and alone there, even growing up, as she had no way to communicate with the other children.

Her life changed for the better when one weekend, the orphanage took all of the kids out to a local card shop, to participate in a structure deck tournament, to let the kids have their own decks. None of the other kids were seriously expecting to win, they were just happy to get cards, since there were regulars there, too- Even adults were playing. So, naturally, everyone was surprised when tiny, unassuming Yuki won the whole tournament.

From then on, Yuki had found a new way to express herself. Even if she couldn't speak, she could communicate with cards in dueling. She began to spend most of her free time at the card shop, and even started entering tournaments there, using her meager allowance to buy entry, and then winning the prizes to get new cards. As a child learning to express herself, she began to try all sorts of different decks. It wasn't long before she was old enough to start using Duel Disks for the tournaments, too.

Unfortunately, when a child is experiencing emotional highs and lows while also being infused with Moment due to the circumstances of her birth, some things can go wrong. As an example, a rich and powerful man in charge of a city with a magic machine for detecting Signers might find a false positive.

And so it was that when she was still barely a teenager, Godwin himself reached out to Yuki to promote her as a pro duelist. A Queen of Duelists, befitting her incredible winning streak. And Yuki, who was at that moment at a low point, worrying about how she couldn't connect with anyone else at the orphanage, agreed. That way, as a semi-pro due to her age, she could at least live and support herself.

Of course, it didn't last. Yuki was high, on top of the world, for a month. And then Godwin realized the error- That Yuki was a false positive. And so he simply left, instructing her promoters to just not give her much and to cut her loose when she lost.

Yuki didn't lose, though. Out of spite, betrayal, all her negative feelings, she kept winning. And the negative feelings, caused in her Duel Disk a negative spin of Moment, causing real damage.

There were two great effects from this. First, her promoters had a new gimmick for her- With her Mayakashi deck, she was promoted as a vengeful ghost, seeking and destroying strong duelists for mysterious reasons. Her white hair, and her inability to speak, made selling that easy, and her stage costume included an eyepatch that functioned as an AR overlay, and bandages on her hand that concealed a motion detection system, allowing her to command her monsters and interact with the field even without speaking. As a result, it appeared as though she could manipulate her monsters and cards without moving, selling the 'vengeful ghost' deal.

Second was that Arcadia Movement took an interest in her. Divine saw her power to do damage, based on her emotions, and thought she was another Psychic Duelist... And so tried to take her under his wing. And Yuki, finding a new place to belong, threw herself into it, taking all of Divine's tests and doing her best. But, unfortunately, she couldn't ever quite stop herself from thinking, or asking questions. As a result, Divine abandoned her the first chance he got- When he found Aki, he loudly decried Yuki as a fake psychic, because whatever she was, it wasn't psychic power- So she must just be a monster. And so Yuki left before Divine made his moves to get Aki.

At this point, Yuki closed off her heart. She simply threw herself into her pro dueling, the silent ghost. She couldn't break kayfabe, or else she'd lose her contract, so she just refused to communicate with anyone. She became bitter, jaded.

Until another girl opened her heart, but we'll get to that later.
